YACHT SAILOR - WEEKEND
Puck Bay is an ideal place for learning sailing. Its shape promotes a sense of safety. Although the water is considered one of the windier areas in this region, it is easy to find shelter from the nearby shore regardless of the wind direction. This allows for effective training even in strong winds, as the waves remain low.
The training for the yacht sailor license includes both theoretical and practical instruction. The course ends with a state exam. Throughout the training, comprehensive knowledge required for the state exam is provided, with a particular focus on practical knowledge and skills.
Organizational information
the training lasts three weekends from Saturday to Sunday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and on the last Sunday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM;
accommodation is organized by the participants on their own;
the theoretical training is conducted in the lecture hall of the Municipal Center for Culture, Sports, and Recreation in Puck;
practical training is conducted on the waters of Puck Bay and in the marina in Puck on the yachtCompis 28specially adapted for training;
immediately after the last day of training, an exam is conducted;
Fees
booking fee: 50% of the course price, the remaining amount no later than 7 days before the course starts;
exam fee: 250 PLN;
For students and pupils up to 26 years old, a 50% discount on the exam fee and issuance of the certificate.
Exam
knowledge test (75 multiple choice questions, 90 minutes) and maneuvering test;
a yachting license can be obtained by a person who has completed their 14th year of age and has passed the required knowledge and skills exam.
Permissions
operating sailing yachts on inland waters
operating yachts with a hull length of up to 12 m on internal sea waters and other sea waters within 2 nautical miles from the shore, during daylight hours.
Practical training
sailing maneuvers: tacking, gybing, approaching a buoy, departing from a buoy, coming to and leaving a dock, anchoring, "man overboard" alarm;
maneuvers with a sailing yacht under engine: anchoring and mooring in various conditions, ability to operate a sailing yacht under engine when meeting another yacht, "man overboard" alarm;
crew management and working as a crew member;
seamanship tasks.
Theoretical training
boat construction;
sailing theory;
principles of operation and maneuvering a yacht under sails and on engine;
basics of navigation, including: navigational signs, maps, and guides;
water rescue: capsizing of the yacht, emergencies or accidents, rescuing a person overboard, first aid, hypothermia, stranding;
meteorology;
navigational aids;
protection of waters from pollution;
right of way on marine and inland waterways;
yacht etiquette - rules of behavior on a yacht and sailing customs
